There are 377 species of animals and 225 species of plants on display at the Gladys Porter Zoo. Among the exhibits you'll enjoy at the zoo are Tropical America where visitors can gawk at Galapagos tortoises, spider monkeys, and Cuban crocodiles; Indo-Australia, which is home to orangutans, tree kangaroos, and kookaburras; and Asia, where Bactrian camels and pileated gibbons are on display. There are many, many more exhibits and animals as well.

The Gladys Porter Zoo is an oasis nestled in the center of Brownsville, Texas. With 26 acres of lush tropical plants and some 1,300 animals, the Gladys Porter Zoo is known for it's successes in breeding endangered species of wildlife. In a mere ¾ mile trek, a visitor to the Gladys Porter Zoo will encounter a diverse ensemble of 377 species of animals and 225 species of plants. The park is divided into four zoogeographic areas: Africa, Asia, Tropical America and Indo-Australia.
