South Padre Island stretches all the way down the coast of Texas from Corpus Christie to very close to the Mexican border at Brazos Island. One hundred and thirty miles down, at the southern tip of Padre Island is the town of South Padre Island, of spring break fame. More on that later. It turns out that Padre Island was split by a man-made shipping channel dividing Padre Island into what is sometimes called North Padre Island and South Padre Island. If you are looking for place to visit in South Padre Island, TX don't confuse the two. The big chunk of island is wild and undeveloped and only when you get to the town of South Padre Island do you find the resort development, which is wild in a different way.
