Address:2 SBC Center
San Antonio, Texas
Our Sports Superfan Says:
The NBA's best franchise over the last decade calls the AT&T Center home. Having won three championships since moving here from the Alamodome in 2002, the San Antonio Spurs have been the model for NBA success in recent years. This, along with minor league hockey and the WNBA, has helped the AT&T Center (known as the SBC Center until 2006) to become the area's premier indoor sports venue.
The flagship franchise of the arena is, obviously, the Spurs. In addition to winning the NBA Championship at home in 2003 in superstar David Robinson's final game, and again in 2005, the Spurs also won the 2007 title, although they clinched that one on the road. San Antonio has won more than 80 percent of their home games at the AT&T Center since they moved in, for one of the best home records in the league. The other tenants of the arena are the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage, a top level minor league team, and the WNBA's San Antonio Silver Stars.
In addition to their sports showcases, the AT&T Center also hosts assorted other events, most notably the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, held in February. It has also hosted concerts, other stage performances, ice shows, the Harlem Globetrotters, and religious gatherings. The arena holds 18,797 people for basketball, and 13,000 for hockey.
Tours of the AT&T Center are available for groups on days when no events are being held. The arena is located in the eastern part of San Antonio and can be reached via the bus at the Crossroads and Randolph Boulevard park and ride stations, as well as by taking the VIA No. 24 bus route.
