Since opening its doors in 1995, the San Antonio Children's Museum has been delighting children and teenagers with exciting hands-on interactive exhibits. Young minds will be invigorated as they create a thunderstorm, work a front end loader, or pretend to be a pilot and land at Runway #9. And these are just a few of the things your children can expect to enjoy at the museum!
Visitors to the San Antonio Children's Museum have the opportunity to visit Edward Aquifer, the primary drinking water source for South Central Texas and you can even slip down a slide in the aquifer to explore the underwater cave. By participating in hands-on science experiments and projects, youngsters will have the opportunity to play a role in the cast of PBS's hit-show FETCH! There's a kid-powered elevator and a bank account where you can use a real ATM in the Good Cents Bank. You can be a waiter in the Kidz Café or play dentist, hygienist, or receptionist in a real working dentist's office called Tooth Booth. And toddlers are not forgotten - the Tot Spot has soft manipulative sculptures, oversized building blocks, and an aquarium room.
The San Antonio Children's Museum offers a wide variety of engaging, interactive, Adventure Lessons, all aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Adventure Lessons are 30 minutes long and visitors can choose from such lessons as Water, Bubbles, and Other Wet Stuff, Mixed Media Magic, Salty Sea Creatures, and Journey through the Digestive System.
To get to the museum, exit the I-10 onto the Santa Rosa Exit and head east (downtown) on Dolorosa St. If you're coming from the south, you'll exit at Durango and head left onto Santa Rosa. Dolorosa becomes Market St. and make a left onto Navarro St. You'll find the museum at the corner of Houston St. Look for a Walgreen's Drug Store, directly across the street.
Get ready to strap your children in for a day of imagination, learning, and excitement at the San Antonio Children's Museum.
