Step into a place and time where cattle and cotton are kings at the George Ranch Historical Park, and you will discover a treasure of Texas traditions. The George Ranch was established by Henry and Nancy Jones in 1824, a the time when the first American pioneers settled near the Brazos River, and has since passed through four generations. Visitors will love the authentic locations, historic homes, costumed presenters and the remarkable story of determination and courage.

At the 1830s Jones Stock Farm, you can meet the Jones family and watch pioneers tending to daily life the 1830s as they manage the ranch on the Texas Gulf Plains. And at the 1860s Ryon Prairie Home you can witness life in post-Civil War Texas during the rapid expansion and diversification of Polly and William Ryon's ranching operation. You can explore the 1890s Davis House Complex, representing the ranch's second and third generations. Here you will see Victorian Texas in all its glory in a fascinating exhibit that guides visitors through the process of moving cattle to market. Be sure to visit the blacksmith's shop and see what he is tinkering away at. The 1930s Fourth Generation Complex, built by Albert and Mamie George, is located on the site of their original ancestor's home place. You will be amazed at the humility and work ethic embodied in the home, despite the family's tremendous wealth.

The George Ranch Historical Park houses the Dinner Belle Café that features real Texas road-house cooking and serves up specialty sandwiches, burgers, and salads. You will love the Dry Creek General Store with its souvenir gifts and working items.

To get to the George Ranch Historical Park, head 30 miles southwest of Downtown Houston by taking the US 59 South and exiting at Grand Parkway - Hwy 99. Follow the signs to the park's main entrance.
