Winters in the region generally feature cool to mild weather with a possibility of light snowfall, though warm days are not uncommon during this season. Springs have warm, pleasant weather with many dry and sunny days. Summers bring sweltering heat, unpleasant and scorching hot weather, violent thunderstorms and, along the coast, heavy tropical storms. Falls have warm and stormy weather with light, constant showers, but the weather is very pleasant despite the rain. Rain is distributed more or less evenly throughout the year and humidity is ensured in all seasons by sea breezes from the Gulf of Mexico.

The best times to visit southeast Texas are in the months of April-May and September-October. April and May are very warm and pleasant, with many dry, sunny days. It is during these months that the region's colorful wildflowers are in full bloom. In the fall, the region enjoys particularly warm and pleasant weather with gorgeous fall foliage, while October is slightly more humid. These months are very wet, with the potential for hurricanes and constant, but light, rain.
