Golf Courses in Sturgis, Deadwood, Mt. Rushmore, South Dakota Badlands

Things to do / Travel Guide

The South Dakota Badlands region is known for many great sites and activities; chief among them are Mt. Rushmore, the Crazy Horse National Monument, the Black Hills and, of course, the Badlands National Park. With wonderful options like these, you might think great golf courses would be at a minimum here. Wrong!

The Red Rock Golf Course has been rated the best in all of South Dakota. Expect to find deep pot bunkers, dramatic elevation changes, and rolling fairways lined with native fescue grasses.

Nearby, Hart Ranch provides challenges in the many uneven lies found along the undulating tree-lined fairways. Ponds on four holes also lie in wait to swallow your errant shots.

Spearfish Canyon offers a beautiful course along with many other amenities like an outdoor heated pool, bar, and grill. During your round, you'll mount hills, shoot over trees, and try to avoid the boulders that line the fairways. You might even see some wildlife before completing your round.

Finally, a few years back, Southern Hills was named the best 9-hole course in the United States by Golf Digest. Doglegs, sand traps, and fast greens are among the challenges along what is now an 18-hole championship course.
