Our Sports Superfan Says:

In September, an unexpected attraction comes to the Las Vegas Strip – the AVP Las Vegas Gods and Goddesses of the Beach Tournament. This professional volleyball tournament brings the beach to the bright lights of the Vegas desert. Held at the Caesar's Palace casino and resort, this tournament is yet another Las Vegas import that somehow still manages to fit in with the rest of the city.

Maybe it's the Greek god costumes worn by the winners, which go perfectly well with the Caesar's Palace theme. Or perhaps it is just the fact that anything seems to go in Las Vegas. And having world class action in the sand certainly doesn't hurt. But whatever the reason, it seems to have a special aura about it.

The tournament begins on Thursday morning, and has day and nighttime sessions that day and Friday. It wraps up Saturday, with volleyball all day long, climaxing with the finals under the lights. Tickets are free for the Thursday and Friday day sessions (which end at noon), but need to be purchased for all other times. However, you can still watch the action for free from outside the complex by standing on the bridge between the Bellagio and Caesar's Palace.
