There are various stop points and Ranger stations along the way, but be prepared to bring your own equipment and food for during the day. Frazier Park has an outdoor shop 10 miles away from the Mount Pinos parking lot, where you can buy equipment, clothing, or snacks if need be.
After heavy snowstorms, the Forest Service closes down the top of Mount Pinos as a precaution for fear of avalanches, but it is still possible to ski the lower portion. Note that some trails will not open unless snow has fallen.
Entrance to the park area requires a Forest Service Adventure Pass which can be purchased for around $5 at the ski patrol office. For amazing views, cheap prices and backcountry trails, Mount Pinos is your one stop destination.
