Sugar Pine Point State Park - California

Things to do / Travel Guide

Our Nature Nut Says:

The main attraction at Sugar Pine Point State Park is definitely the Hellman-Ehrman Mansion, also known as Pine Lodge, a summer home built in 1903 of stone and shingle amidst a grove of pine and cedar. Tours of the home, still stocked with the amenities of the day including an electric stove, an elevator and a refrigerator, are available to park visitors, hourly. Aside from the Mansion, Sugar Pine Point is one of the most beautiful natural areas remaining on Lake Tahoe and has miles of hiking trails and beaches, great for swimming and soaking in the sun. Fishing is available in crystal clear General Creek which flows into Lake Tahoe, and camping is available for longer stays. If visiting in the winter, the Park has over a dozen miles of ski trails and even interpretive programs on winter-related subjects, making Sugar Pine Point a park for all seasons.

From Sugar Pine Point State Park - California:

Ed Z'berg - Sugar Pine Point State Park contains one of the finest remaining natural areas on Lake Tahoe. With nearly two miles of lake frontage, the park has dense forests of pine, fir, aspen and juniper. Another attraction is the Hellman-Ehrman Mansion (also known as Pine Lodge), a summer home built in 1903 in a grove of pine and cedar. From the turn of the century until 1965, the lands of what is now Ed Z'berg - Sugar Pine Point State Park were owned by financier Isaias W. Hellman, and later by his daughter Florence Hellman. The mansion provides an interesting view into the lifestyles of the wealthy on Lake Tahoe.
