Our Nature Nut Says:

Sequoia and Kings Canyon are two separate, adjacent parks managed as one unit. Both are home to majestic mountain scenery, towering sequoia trees, and a wide plethora of plants and wildlife.
You must visit the Giant Forest to gape at and photograph General Sherman, the largest tree on the planet (and likely one of the oldest; biologists estimate it to be anywhere from 1,800-2,700-years-old). You can actually drive through a fallen sequoia tree at The Tunnel Log. The amazing Grant Grove area is home to the third-largest tree in the world and the Nation's Christmas Tree.
The short but stunning Zumwalt Meadow trail stops along your journey through Cedar Grove in the Kings Canyon section of the park. Visitors are treated to several other extraordinary park features as well, including glittering glacial lakes, mountain lion sightings, and a magnificent marble cavern. A stop at the aptly-named Panoramic Point will give you a postcard-like view of the high sierra terrain.

From Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks - Three Rivers, California:

These parks are home to giants: immense mountains, deep canyons, and huge trees. Thanks to their huge elevational range, 1,500' to 14,491', these parks protect stunningly diverse habitats. The Generals Highway climbs over 5000 feet from chaparral and oak-studded foothills to the awe-inspiring sequoia groves. From there, trails lead to the high-alpine wilderness which makes up most of these parks. Beneath the surface lie over 200 fascinating caverns.
