Located at the southern end of the Sierra Nevada in central California, Sequoia National Forest and Giant Sequoia National Monument takes its name from the giant sequoia, which grows in more than 30 different groves in the forest. Visitors can enjoy spectacular vistas of canyons and mountain streams and beautiful waterfalls such as Salmon Creek Falls and Grizzly Falls on the Kings River. Fishermen will be delighted at the abundant trout, found in nearly every stream and lake, and winter sport enthusiasts will love the downhill and cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
Best of all, families can enjoy camping among the world's largest trees in one of four family campgrounds and 144 campsites, as well as enjoy the interpretive trail and an additional 23 miles of trail available for biking, hiking and strolling through the woods.
The Sequoia National Forest and Giant Sequoia National Monument is located in the High Sierra Region of California, at the south end of the Sierra Nevada. The monument includes all of the giant sequoia groves on the Sequoia National Forest.
