Weather in Lake Tahoe, Reno, Yosemite, California Sierra Nevada

Things to do / Travel Guide

When the weather in the Sierra Nevada region changes, it does so rapidly. Nonetheless, throughout the year you can almost always expect clear, sunny skies and low humidity, which are present in the region approximately 80% of the time. This makes for great weather conditions to enjoy all sorts of outdoor recreational activities, from pleasure boating and hiking in the warmer months to skiing, snowmobiling, and other snow-related activities in the winter months.

The region's long winters feature mostly snowy and cold weather with some sunny, chilly days. The melting snow in the mountains causes torrential, yet stunning, spring waterfalls. The spring starts off rainy and stormy, but gives way to very sunny and warm days for the remainder of the season. The long summer days usually range anywhere from warm to hot, with clean, dry air that's a pleasure to breathe in. The fall days are sunny, dry, and warm, while the nights are cooler; with a growing chance of stormy weather as the season progresses.
