Winery Tour in Sierra Nevada
Smack in between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park lies the quaint Gold Rush town of Murphys, California, affectionately known as the “Queen of the Sierras.” You'll be in for a real treat in this charming place if you take a behind-the-scenes tour of Ironstone Vineyards.
Your tour starts off in front of the winery's beautiful fireplace in the tasting room, where you'll have the chance to sample the house wines that you'll learn about during your free guided tour of the facilities. To accompany your drink, the winery also provides you with some complimentary canapés, prepared by their culinary staff. While walking through the seven-story complex, you'll learn about how their wines are made as well as some other intimate details about the vineyards' operations.
Behind-the-scenes and factory tours are typically family-friendly activities good for a short and interesting diversion from a region's mainstream tourist activities. Note that while the winery tour in this region is free, some tours have irregular hours and admission restrictions. Click on the factory tour icon for more practical information.
