Tucked away on the coast of Oregon, you will find a quaint, tranquil town called Yachats, perfect for a family vacation or romantic getaway. Guests are offered a quiet, peaceful vacation in this small coastal town, with the temperatures ranging between 40 and 70 degrees year round, making it a pleasant place to visit any time.

Recommended activities along the beaches include agate and fossil hunting, birding, hiking and strolling, fishing, clamming, kite flying, surfing and picnicking. There are 26 miles of nature to explore on the hiking trails which are open year round. The Yachats 804 trail, which is part of the Oregon Coast Trail System, is a great place to watch the sunset, or take a romantic walk along the beach. The Cape Perpetua Visitors Center offers guided tours as well as natural and cultural exhibits and performances. Back in town, you can find the historic Little Log Church Museum which houses settler exhibits, an extensive shell collection, and works of local artists and authors. Other visitor attractions are the Heceta Head Lighthouse of 1893, which is open for public tours at certain times throughout the year, and the Sea Lion Caves, home to hundreds of wild Steller sea lions and the world's largest sea cave. Yachats also features community events, such as a live performance by the Yachats Big Band on the first Thursday of every month in the Yachats Common. On the last Thursday of every month, you can enjoy the Yachats Lunch Brunch, also in the Yachats Common.

The eateries in Yachats are just as relaxing and homey as you would expect in this small coastal town. For a big brunch on Sunday morning, stop by Adobe Resort Restaurant and Lounge. For lunch, try the fresh seafood at LeRoy's Blue Whale Restaurant, featuring homemade pies, or Roca Mar Restaurant and Lounge, featuring Mexican cuisine. For a nice family dinner, take the kids to The Drift Inn Family Restaurant and Pub, and to the Topper's Ice Cream, Candies and Pizza for a yummy desert. If you plan on picnicking outdoors, get your sandwiches at the Grand Occasions Gourmet Deli. During the day, you can grab a coffee at The Village Bean. In the evening only, adults will enjoy a good wine and dessert at Yachats Wine Trader, a bottle shop and smoke free wine bar with a fireplace and ocean views.

Shopping is abundant in downtown Yachats, and tourists will find many souvenirs, as well as pottery, crafts, and clothing at local gift stores. Unique gifts can be found at stores such as Distant Shores, Earthworks Gallery, Paddy-Kait, and more.

Most hotels and inns in Yachats have great ocean views, and some are even equipped with fireplaces and other luxuries to make you stay even more relaxing. Recommended lodgings include the Adobe Resort Motel, featuring an indoor pool and king size beds, the quaint Ambrosia Gardens Bed and Breakfast, with homemade quilts on each bed, the Heceta Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast, located high on a cliff overlooking the bay, or the romantic Sea Quest Bed and Breakfast, offering jacuzzis and private decks. If you prefer to spend the night outdoors, there are many nearby campsites, including the Sea Perch Campground, the Beachside State Park, Carl G. Washburne State Park, South Beach State Park, and Jessie M. Honeyman State Park. Reservations are recommended.

Yachats is located approximately 3 hours south of Portland, and 26 miles from both Newport and Florence. On the way to Yachats, we recommend you take the 9 mile scenic drive down Yachats River Road and visit the Yachats Covered Bridge. You can also catch a scenic glimpse of the coast form the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, the highest point on the Oregon Coast overlooking Devil's Churn, Cook's Chasm, Spouting Horn, and Cape Perpetua Overlook, providing a great opportunity to breathe in the fresh coastal air and set the mood for your relaxing vacation!
