Sunset Bay State Park is located in one of the most impressive regions on the Oregon Coast. It is situated next to a beautiful sandy cove and is surrounded by towering cliffs and evergreen forests. Sunset Bay's campground is set in a nice shady forest, a few hundred yards from the beach, and is well spaced and protected from ocean spray. There are a few sites set along a small creek that bisects the camp, providing many beautiful spots to walk around and relax!
Recreational opportunities in this area are endless: There's beachcombing, kayaking, wildlife viewing (seals, sea lions, and occasionally whales), and hiking. Numerous trails start near the campground and connect Sunset Bay State Park with Shore Acres and Cape Arago state parks. Sunset Bay Campground is a perfect location for a family gathering – the beach is a great place to take the kids to, particularly during warm, sunny summer days.
Sunset Bay Campground, open year round, is quite a large campground with 129 sites arranged in four loops. During summer holidays and weekends the campground may be rather crowded, so you may want to reserve a spot early. Facilities include flush toilets, showers, potable water, picnic tables, fire grills, and a dump station. Some sites include full hookups and some are self-contained. Sunset Bay Campground is located next to Cape Arago Hwy, 12 miles off US 101, southwest of Coos Bay in central Oregon. Have fun exploring the beautiful Oregon Coast and chilling out in one it's best campsites!
