Historic Newport Beach dates back to the establishment of the settlement of Newport, Oregon in 1866. At that time, John Nye obtained 160 acres of land and turned it into a resort area in the 1880s. In the early part of the twentieth century, Nye Beach was known as a hot honeymoon spot. And why wouldn't it be? With its beautiful beach and lovely little town, it truly is a romantic and pleasant place to visit.
Today Nye Beach continues to cater to the beach-going public, offering tons of lodging and dining options, shopping, performing arts, and, of course, a fantastic beach! Shopping places to look out for include the Nye Beach Book House and the Toujours Boutique. Dining options you won't want to miss include Stephanie's Café and April's At Nye Beach. There are also two art galleries, interesting objects scattered here and there around the neighborhood, and a Turnaround which adds to the romantic feel of the place and offers great views of the surf.
