Our Zoo and Aquarium Expert Says:

While best known for its breeding of Asian elephants (in 1962, Packy became the first elephant born in the Western hemisphere in more than 40 years), this zoo offers a great deal more. In the insect zoo, for instance, you can see the emperor scorpion and the Madagascar hissing cockroach. The Cascade Crest Exhibit has a simulated snow cave and mountain goats, while at the Cascade Stream you'll be able to peek into the beaver den and watch river otters frolic in a cool, mountain stream. That's only the start of what will be an exciting day at the Oregon Zoo.
