Expert White Water Rafting Review

Venture down the whitewater of the McKenzie River. Experience the 27 miles of Class II-III+ (upper); II-III (lower) rapids, ideal for first-time rafters and families with young children. These sections, Paradise Campground to Blue River and Blue River to Helfrich Landing, pass through Willamette National Forest, and are located in west-central Oregon, Between Springfield and Bend, on Route 126 - Mckenzie Hwy.

Practical Info: Rafting season is open approximately from May to September, with whitewater rafting trips that can be completed in 1 day. Popular trips include the 14 mile Upper section, and the 13 mile Lower section. The river is suitable for paddle rafts, oar rafts, and canoes. Portage may be required.

Useful Tips: Guides are optional, although permits may be required for private trips. Outfitters on the McKenzie River offer trips suitable for families.
