Our Ski Specialist Says:

If you are looking for a beautiful place to hit the slopes, Hoodoo is definitely the place to be. Surrounded by the Three Sisters Wilderness Area to the south, and Mt. Jefferson and Three Fingered Jack to the north, every view is sure to take your breath away. Located in the Central Cascade Range, Hoodoo has been open to skiers since 1938, with a family-friendly environment, low prices, and great runs throughout.

The area is known for its massive snowfall, and people flock to this Oregon favorite winter retreat. Hoodoo is composed of 800 skiable acres, with a 1,035 foot vertical drop. The majority of these acres, and finely groomed slopes, are located on the north face, which fortuitously is also the side that gets the most snow. There are thirty trails on Hoodoo, so anyone is sure to find the slope to match their skill level. There are 7 lifts to get you up the mountain to the trails. Whether it's the back side of the mountain with its deep and challenging powder which suits your fancy, or the groomed front side of the mountain that floats your boat, everyone finds their niche at Hoodoo.

Weather permitting, Hoodoo opens its doors to the public in November and keeps on giving until April. Make sure to take note that Hoodoo is closed on Wednesdays, so arrange your schedule accordingly. The rest of the week the mountain opens its doors at 9:00am and closes at 4:00pm. Weekends feature night skiing, with the doors opening at the usual 9:00am hour but continuing into the 10:00pm darkness, so make sure to check it out. If you're at Hoodoo, take advantage of one of the many fantastic discounts offered, such as Miller Monday, Tightwad Tuesdays, and Two for One Thursdays.

For something a little different, Nordic skiers can enjoy the view from a different angle with 18.5 kilometers of cross-country trails. Those looking for off the mountain fun should make sure to check out the popular Autobahn Tube Hill.

Hoodoo has two day lodges with a variety of dining options. Within its doors one can find a deli, a Pizza Pub, and a Bar/Lounge. If you're looking for a little more variety in your dining choices, check out the nearest town of Sisters. Sisters offers a variety of dining options, with cafes, espresso bars, delis, and a choice of restaurants all available. If you're willing to take a little bit of a longer drive, then you may also want to check out Bend with its numerous dining options.

Hoodoo is located on the summit of the Santiam Pass on Highway 20, just 20 miles northwest of Sisters. In Sisters a variety of lodging options are available, from B&Bs to camping and RV parks, so that you can manage on any sized budget. Just 40 miles away in Bend one can find additional lodging options such as inns and hotels.
