Our Museum Expert Says:

Drop by the kid-friendly museum in Portland! Turn on the Water Works, explore the performing arts and feel what it's like to live in a fairy tale at the Portland Children's Museum.

With exhibits for children ages 6 months to 13 years, the Portland Children's Museum is a center of fun that can last all day long. Children are invited to act out fairy tales, play in a magical forest, or go shopping in a kid-size grocery store. The Water Works exhibit is especially popular, but bring along a change of clothes because you'll get wet! There are also six studios with changing exhibits and opportunities for exploring the visual, literary, and performing arts. Children can put on a show using real make-up, costumes, lights, and the sounds of an actual theater as well as draw and glue with recycled materials in the Garage studio.

There is no restaurant onsite, so be sure to pack some snacks or lunches to take with. And since the busiest times are weekends and school holidays, weekday visits are best. Do note: this venue is especially children-friendly, who may tire within a couple of hours, but there's plenty to keep active children busy for half a day or more!

The Portland's Children's Museum is located at 4015 SW Canyon Rd off Highway 26, opposite the Oregon Zoo.
