Things to do / Travel Guide
In the Oregon Cascades region, winters are rainy and foggy at lower elevations and feature constant heavy snowfalls and freezing weather at higher altitudes. Spring is a transition season in which temperatures are on the rise, but still cool in the mountainous areas. Weather remains very wet and rainy in the mountains throughout most of this season. Summer days are usually sunny, hot, and dry with little precipitation while the nights are significantly cooler, especially at higher altitudes. During the transitional season of fall, temperatures drop drastically, and though it is partly sunny, the weather is cool to mild, and sometimes rainy.
The snowy weather up in the mountains of the Oregon Cascades region makes for excellent skiing in the winter. For non-skiers, the best time to visit the region is in the summer, when there's little rain and humidity, and pleasant warm weather.
