Portland, known as the “City of Roses”, provides a combination of urban and nature that can be ideal for a romantic vacation.
If your first love is coffee, start the day off with a visit to one of the Southeast coffeehouses. Fueled up for a day in the outdoors, head to Forest Park for some hiking or biking. The park is a true wilderness area right in the city limits. Then it's back to Downtown Portland for some fine dining, sampling microbrews, visiting art galleries in the Pearl District and general walking around and people watching.
Staying in one of the historic and elegant hotels will enhance the experience. The Benson, Governor and Heathman Hotels are recommended. Hotel dining and entertainment might give you an excuse not to leave the building.

Staying at the Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood can be a unique and romantic experience. Skiing in the summer or swimming outdoors in the winter is an experience that will not be forgotten.
Head southwest of Portland to spend some time tasting and touring the Yamhill County wine country. The area has a nice selection of romantic B&B's.
