Adventure Travel around Portland, Oregon – Mt. Hood and the Cascades
Portland, Oregon has enough trails to get you excited about the Cascades and Mt. Hood, in the distance beckons you to climb to it summit. If you are there between May and July, with the physical stamina for a 10-15 hour climb on snow and glaciers, you can do the climb in one day from Timberland Lodge. If you prefer a long trek to be the highlight of your adventure vacation in the Cascades, consider four or five days on the Timberland Trail.
In the winter months, experience a 52 degree pitch at Willamette Pass Ski area and backcountry trails heli and cat skiing at Mount Hood Skibowl.

Did you know that the town of Hood River, Oregon is considered the capital of the world? The windsurfing world, that is. The wide river, combined with the winds blowing up the gorge provides perfect conditions for windsurfing during much of the year. Hood River is about a one hour drive from Portland.
