The most popular place for kayaking on Oahu is Lanikai Beach at Kailua on the windward side. Besides this being a beautiful beach, the main attractions of the area are the small uninhabited islands, called Mokulua, not far offshore. This destination makes for a pleasurable and not too strenuous kayak trip that is also suitable for beginners. Many people picnic and snorkel around the islands before returning back. Single and double kayaks are available for rent on site.
Another place to kayak in the summer months is at Haleiwa on the North Shore. A special attraction here is the availability of transparent kayaks that allow you to view the sea life under you unobstructed.
Very convenient kayaking is also available at many places at Waikiki.
