Things to do / Travel Guide
Since Oahu is an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, there are many species of seabirds present. Some of these include terns, noddies, boobies, and frigate birds. These birds congregate on the small islands off the windward coast, especially Moku Manu off the Mokapu Peninsula.
Some of the endemic forest birds include the amakihi, apapane, elepaio, and iiwi. These birds can be found in different forested areas around the island. The common myna, which originated in India, is an interesting bird mainly found in the urban areas of Oahu.
In Oahu's mountain valleys you can find wild goats and pigs. A rare sight to see is the bush-tailed rock-wallaby in the Kalihi Valley. These wallabies, which now live in the wild, are the descendants of animals that escaped captivity in 1916.
Sea Life Park
If you want to actually interact with marine life in addition to seeing it, visit Sea Life Park at Makapuu Point. Here you can actually swim with the dolphins and other marine animals or just observe them if you wish.
