The Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden is located in Kaneohe on the windward coast. This garden, at over 400 acres, is large enough explore by car. On the grounds of the garden there is also a picnic facility, a campground, and a nice lake (but no swimming is allowed). All in all, it's a great place to bring the whole family.
To see colorful flowers and plants mostly of a tropical nature, visit the Wahiwa Botantical Garden in central Oahu. Here you can best capture the beauty of the flowers in a rainforest environment.
Two of Oahu's botanical gardens are actually quite easy to get to and conveniently located right near Chinatown. One is the Foster Botanical Garden, which provides thousands of visitors a year a break from the urban setting of Honolulu. The other, just to the north, is the Liliuokalani Botanical Garden, named for Hawaii's last queen. This garden also features a stream, a small waterfall, and nice picnic facilities.
If, by the end of your Oahu trip, you haven't managed to squeeze in time to see the island's botanical gardens, you have one last chance to see some beautiful flowers and plants in a relaxing setting in the gardens at Honolulu International Airport.
