The Seattle Asian Art Museum is the sparkling jewel of Asian art and cultural in the heart of Seattle. The museum boasts some 23,000 objects across many cultures and focuses on connecting the past and the present.
Visitors will not only enjoy exhibits of Chinese Art, South Asian and Southeast Asian Art, Japanese & Korean Art, but also lovely displays on African, Australian Aboriginal & Oceanic, Ancient Mediterranean & Islamic, American, Decorative, Modern, Contemporary, Textile, Native, and Mesoamerican art. There is something from each corner of the world at the Seattle Asian Art Museum, and the diverse collection reflects the mission and purpose of the museum.
Other exhibits include "Discovering Buddhist Art - Seeking the Sublime", and "Pattern Richness in Modern Japanese Textiles".
Step into the museum's SAM Shop with a wide variety of Asian merchandise and books. The ASTE Café offers an intimate setting nestled among a renowned collection of Japanese art. Asian-inspired wraps, a cup of jasmine tea or some chocolate cake, perhaps?
The #10 Metro bus from downtown Seattle takes you to the museum, or if riding by car, take the I-5 and exit onto Olive Way Exit (up -hill east) if coming from the south, or exit onto Ronoke and head right onto 10th Avenue East. Either way, head left onto East Prospect Street and look for 14th Avenue East, where you'll find the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
