A leading science center in the United States, the Pacific Science Center is home to one of the best collections of scientific exhibits and education that appeal to guests of all ages and backgrounds. Its buildings were part of the 1962 World's Fair in Seattle, and sit on seven acres of land walking distance from the Space Needle and the Seattle Center.
The Pacific Science Center sees many traveling science exhibits as well as permanent ones that continue to draw crowds. The Center also houses two IMAX theaters, one of the world's largest Laser Dome theaters, a planetarium, and a tropical butterfly house. Kids will particularly enjoy the Insect Village, an interactive exhibit with giant robotic insects, and Kids Works, an exhibit where kids can give live weather reports! There are also various animal and dinosaur exhibits, as well as science and technology exhibits that further explore the workings of the world around us.
There's enough at the Pacific Science Center to keep the whole family busy for an hour or two, or for an entire day of exploration. If a full day is your plan, make sure you stop by the Fountains Café for a nice lunch before heading back out to the exhibits or to an IMAX film. A combination ticket (for center and IMAX) is about $15, less from children and seniors, and free for members. There are also multiple educational offerings at the Pacific Science Center, including workshops for children and adults and a camp for kids. Groups are also welcome! So come on down to the Pacific Science Center and learn how to create 3D illusions, figure out how the human body works, and challenge a robot to a game of tic-tac-toe! Have fun!
