Visit one of the largest private air and space museums in the world! Climb into the cockpits of a real Concorde and Air Force One and experience the world of flight like you never imagined you could.
The Museum of Flight was established in 1965 and is home to more than 80 aircrafts, including the first presidential jet, which served from 1959 to 1996, a Caproni Ca 20, the world's first fighter plane from World War I, and one of five Aerocars, automobiles with detachable wings and propeller. Visitors here can see the only remaining flyable Douglas DC-2 and enter the cockpit of the VB-71 Blackbird - built to spy on the Soviet Union during the Cold War. If seeking bigger thrills, try flight simulation in the new 13-seat 4D-X simulator - with 3-D visuals and effects like wind and smoke, or the X-Pilot - a two-seat simulator where you can have a ride full of loops and rolls. The Museum of Flight also has films, free docent-led tours offered throughout the day and even vintage Biplane rides around Seattle.
After an afternoon of flight, come enjoy lunch and an up-close view of Boeing Field in the Museum's Wings Cafe. To get here from either downtown or SeaTac Airport, take METRO Bus #174. The bus has a stop directly in front of the Museum, so get ready for an unforgettable day celebrating Seattle's aerospace heritage!
