Our History Buff Says:

Take a trip back in time to rural Puget Sound! Ebey's Landing is the Nation's first National Historical Reserve and is a true symbol of Pacific Northwest history. From the first exploration of Puget Sound by Captain George Vancouver in 1792 to the settlement of the town of Coupeville, this reserve is a true historical treasure. The variety of sites, including historic farms and the seaport community of Coupeville (one of the oldest towns in Washington), to Fort Casey and Fort Ebey State Parks, offer plenty of activities to keep visitors entertained and busy all day long!

The 17,400 acre Ebey's Landing can be toured by car or bike, both perfect for taking in all of the natural beauty and local history of the Reserve. You should definitely take their time exploring Fort Casey and Fort Ebey State Parks for incredible marine views and interesting military history. Also, check out historic Coupeville, which boasts picturesque Victorian architecture as well as restaurants, antique stores, galleries and gift shops that visitors can take in on the self-guided walking tour of the town. Or, if you're more of the outdoorsy type, why not hike the bluff trail that starts at Ebey's Landing, scuba dive at Fort Casey Underwater Reserve or visit the Admiralty Head Lighthouse—all experiences not to be missed! Visitors here can also enjoy mountain biking in the Kettles area of Fort Ebey State Park, and everyone will love eating lunch in historic Coupeville or picnicking on one of the many beaches.

To get to Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve from Seattle, take I-5 north to Burlington, turn west onto SR-20 (towards Anacortes) Cross Deception Pass Bridge and go through Oak Harbor until you get to Coupeville. Make sure you bring the whole family to Ebey's Landing for a fun-filled family vacation on this historic coast! Have fun!
