Address:Pacific Beach, Washington
Seeking solitude in nature? Love the beach, but not the sunburns? Then get in on a great local secret. Pacific Beach, Washington is nestled between the Olympic Forests and the Pacific Ocean, and is not your typical vacation on the shore. Boasting a rugged outdoorsman experience, and offering all the best of the Washington Coast, this region is home to one of the largest, longest, beaches in the world. In addition to swimming, visitors can enjoy hiking through ancient forests, exploring 200-foot tall red clay cliffs, and cooling off in nearby raging rivers. Best of all, Pacific Beach State Park has a 10-acre camping park with 2,300 feet of ocean shoreline, offering a host of nature activities for visitors to enjoy. If you're visiting with the kids, take them on a beachcombing trip for natural goodies or, if just looking for some R&R time, just sit back and enjoy dramatic views of the surf.
If fishing is your thing, you'll have plenty of activity here. Keep your eyes peeled for crabs, sea birds, seals, starfish, perch, and shark. Alternatively, why not try your hand at clamming? Bird lovers will also have plenty to see, from ravens, ducks, and gulls, to hawks and herons.
The park is open year round for camping and day use; in the summer from 6 a.m. to dusk, and in the winter from 8 a.m. to dusk. After your long day at the beach, drop by Paddies Perch Restaurant for a unique meal at Washington's Pacific Beach!
