Things to do / Travel Guide

Address:Whidbey Island, Washington

Our Beach Bum Says:

Explore the beauty of Washington's beaches at Deception Pass State Park Beach, filled with water, forests, cliffs, sand dunes, and intriguing wildlife. Here you'll be welcomed with an abundance of water activities including swimming, boating, fishing, kayaking, diving, clamming, and crabbing. Because of the beach's unique marine ecology, guests have the opportunity to choose between hanging out in saltwater or freshwater areas of the beach.

When you need a break from the water (or if it's simply just too cold for swimming), then head over to the many shoreline trails at Deception Pass State Park Beach. Nosh on ripe salalberries on your way over the Deception Pass Bridge to Fidalgo Island, explore the unique rock formations, and observe the waves, boats, and seals in nearby waters.

There is also an interpretive center where visitors can learn about the history and ecology of the area, as well as an observation deck over Cranberry Lake (one of three park freshwater lakes) which offers stunning views of the beaches and surrounding areas. For unique accommodations, guests can opt to stay at the Cornet Bay Environmental Learning Center, where they can cook, do laundry, and get involved in facility activities. Camping is also available. Deception Pass State Park Beach is located on Whidbey Island in the Puget Sound in Washington State, just a short drive from Seattle and the Mukileo-Clinton Ferry. Have fun!
