Shopping around Seattle
Seattle has many options available for the hearty shopper.
The open-air Pike Place Market and the surrounding streets are not only home to the original Starbucks coffee store, but also to many food and craft stalls along its northern arcade, as well as art galleries and souvenir and specialty shops. Even for non-shoppers, the Pike Place Market is one of Seattle's must-see attractions. Don't miss the flying fish!
The main shopping area in Seattle is in the downtown area, between Third Avenue and Sixth Avenue and University Street and Stewart Street. Outlet shopping can be found just east of Seattle at the Factory Stores of North Bend, which is home to over 40 different outlet stores. One of the most well-read and literate cities in the United States, Seattle features a plethora of book stores that can be found throughout the city.
Belltown is the locale for trendy shopping, while Pioneer Square is great for those looking for quaint bookshops, antique shops, stores with Oriental rugs, and art galleries. Interestingly, the first Nordstrom store was opened in 1901 in downtown Seattle. Over on the corner of Third Avenue and Pine Street, there's Bon Marche, which carries the distinction of being Seattle's oldest and largest department store, selling everything from love seats to lingerie.
For those searching for a collection of bargain boutiques, check out Pacific Place at 600 Pine Street.

Tacoma, has a farmer's market every Thursday on the stretch of Broadway between Ninth Street and 11th Street from June through mid-October.
Shopping around Port Townsend
The main shopping and commercial district in Port Townsend is Water Street. Water Street is lined with many restored brick buildings that are over 100 years old, and are over-laden with ornate, Victorian style façades. Today, these buildings are filled with many locally-owned shops, boutiques, restaurants, cafés, hotels, and inns.
Shopping around Leavenworth
The Bavarian village of Leavenworth features some very unique places to shop.
