Seattle residents may complain about the rain and cool climate, but the plants love it. The area has several botanical gardens in the Seattle Tacoma Metro Area, some with a distinctly Asian flavor.
Seattle-Tacoma Botanical Gardens
Near the airport, the Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden manages to include woodland trails and a formal Japanese Garden, and other gardens in its 10 acres.
In Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, there are several beautifully maintained gardens, such as a Japanese Garden, a rhododendron garden, a rose garden, an iris garden, a Dahlia trial garden, and a northwest native garden. This park is open to the public for free.
Botanical Gardens in Everett
North of Seattle, in Everett is the Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens, part of Legion Park. Visit the Arboretum the Japanese maples and enjoy the walks in the forest and the views of Puget Sound
Botanical Gardens in Federal Way
North of Seattle, in Federal Way, the Rhododendron Species Foundation and Botanical Gardens, is home to ten of thousands of rhododendrons and other relatives. The rhododendrons begin to flower soon after New Years Day.
