The ski areas and resorts of Ogden Valley are known for their practically perfect Utah powder and spectacular scenery. Snow Basin is no exception. With some of the world's best snow and best views, Snow Basin is all about the ultimate ski and snowboard experience, without all the resort fluff. The resort was more or less a best-kept secret until the 2002 Olympic Games brought Men's and Women's Olympic downhill, Super G and combined races to Snow basin's slopes. It's among America's oldest ski resorts, and there are some beautiful rustic lodging options at the mountains base, as well as several options in the town of Ogden.
Snowbasin offers great untracked powder, well-groomed trails, and the third highest vertical drop in Utah. The mountain is split into three sections: Allen's Peak and the No Name area is a region packed with expert slopes that fall steeply through trees. Experts will enjoy Snowbasin's wide-open powder bowls and Olympic downhill courses in this area. Then there is the center of the resort, which runs from Needles to Middle Bowl and then to Wildcart Bowl. Trails are a bit less steep and a bit more wide compared to that of Allen's Peak. Strawberry Peak is the final sector, which serves as a haven for intermediate riders and skiers. Main Street, Elk Ridge and Coyote Bowl are long cruisers here that are sure to please. Beginner areas are primarily in front of Earl's lodge. For snowboarders, Snowbasin provides plenty of steep chutes, natural halfpipes, groomers and tree shots. A great natural halfpipe is located off the Utah Express run. The Krazy Kat Park is located on the Powder Puff run and has several boxes, rails and tabletops. Apex Park is located off the Porcupine triple lift and has rails, boxes, a spine, and tabletops. The 340-foot superpipe is under the John Paul Lift.
