Since 1978, kids have been delighting in Discovery Gateway, which is full of engaging interactive activities for the whole family. Four floors and 140 permanent exhibits with daily workshops and special performances, guarantee a fun-filled action packed day of learning and excitement.
In The Garden exhibit you'll be greeted by 30 foot high beehives! In the "Kid's Eye View" exhibit, kids rule! This pint-sized town is where imagination reigns and your kids will discover what they can do in a community. Art, science, and engineering combine in The Studio, as kids design their own sculptures or model houses, and then see if they withstand a simulated earthquake! You can take a self-designed airplane and test it through a wind tunnel, and even design buildings from a variety of materials to see how they stand the difference.
In The Terrace exhibit, kids will learn to save lives in a mock Life Flight or rescue operation in a helicopter, play the roles of pilot, paramedic, nurse, or command center operator and put their safety response to the test. The Discovery Gateway also features a child-size grocery store where kids can be both shoppers and checkers, and a room where shadows "stick" to a wall. A "color factory" helps children discover music, dance, and theater through colors. They can also create color in the Chromolator and use the Bubbelator to play a tune.
Reach Discovery Gateway by taking the 600 North exit off of I-15 and heading east. Then head south at the 400 West and exit turning right at 100 South, and end at 444 West 100 South.
