Golf Courses in Lake Placid, Lake George and Northern New York

Things to do / Travel Guide

The northern New York region offers many quality athletic diversions, whether it's watching the Travers, also known as the mid-summer derby, in Saratoga Springs; or skiing Olympic trails on Whiteface Mountain. Of equal quality is the golf in the region, and it is not by accident that the courses we mention are adjacent to well-known spas. So when you come to Northern New York, be prepared to play hard and relax hard.

Saratoga National has in the past been recognized by Golf Digest as one of the “100 Best Public Courses in America.” Not far from the country's oldest racetrack, the course was built on a former horse farm. Quick greens and water hazards will be your main challenges here.
You may want to pay a visit to luxury resort and day-spa Roosevelt Baths and Spa after your round.

You'll be able to look out over Lake George while playing the Sagamore Golf Course. Both beautiful and challenging, this course dates back to the 1920s and is fun for golfers of all skill levels. Pop over to the The Sagamore Spa when you're done and relax your tired muscles.

The Whiteface Club is on the famed Winter Olympics site at Whiteface Mountain. Thus, be prepared for plenty of rolling greens and elevation changes. The local spa is called the Spa and Salon.
