Our Golf Guru Says:

Your first shot will be a blind one, over a native ridge. When you get to the par 3 #8, you'll find a hole set in a gap in a high ridge, which can become a virtual wind tunnel at times. The 16th Hole is nicknamed "Stairway to Seven". Get the picture: looks good but may feel bad.

From Black Mesa Golf Course & Club - Santa Fe, New Mexico:

Black Mesa Golf Club, designed by architect Baxter Spann, "could very well turn out to be the finest course, public or private, in the state," according to Golf Digest. The course plays through dramatic sandstone ridges with Black Mesa visible from several locations. Each hole is different, featuring characteristics that make each one both strategic and memorable in its own unique way. The 18-hole site showcases distinctive bunkering, native arroyos as hazards, and green contouring in keeping with the scale of the natural landforms.
