Things to do / Travel Guide
Generally there is sunny and mild weather with light rainfall year-round in northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. Winter is on the cool side with the common potential for snow, making the Santa Fe area, in particular, popular for snow-based recreation. Spring enjoys warm, comfortable weather. During the long, hot, and sunny summers, there are long stretches without any precipitation, but brief thunderstorms do occur. Cool evenings bring relief to the hot temperatures during the days. Falls are crisp with sunny and mild weather and sparse, light rainfall.
The shoulder seasons of spring and fall are the best times to come and visit northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. In addition to not having to contend with extreme temperatures, spring is also the least-crowded season in the region, which “gives you some more elbow room” when taking part in outdoor activities like hiking, biking, mountain climbing.
