Things to do / Travel Guide

Great golf abounds in the northern New Mexico and southern Colorado region, beginning with the University of New Mexico South Championship Course, named one of the top-25 public courses in the country by Golf Digest Magazine, and the number one course to play in New Mexico by Golfweek Magazine. You'll find a bit of everything here, from sand traps to water hazards, elevated greens to deep drop gullies.

The super-long Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club was in the past named the #1 Best New Course in America by Golf Digest. It features island landing areas and greens separated by arroyos, native vegetation, and rock outcroppings.

Recently ranked among Golf Digest's list of America's 100 Greatest Public Courses, Twin Warriors offers amazing vistas that include ponds and waterfalls.

According to Golf Digest, Black Mesa Golf Club "could very well turn out to be the finest course, public or private, in the state." Here are two of its offerings: a blind shot over a native ridge, and a tee set in a gap in a high ridge.

All these great courses in just one region. How do you know which is the best? Guess you'll have to play them yourself.
