Rio Grande Botanic Garden

A narrow gauge railroad, the Rio Line, connects the main attractions of the Albuquerque Bio Park, including the Rio Grande Botanic Garden, the Rio Grande Zoo, and Tingley Beach. The garden is right across the plaza from the Albuquerque Aquarium, so a visit to the area will interest lovers of plants, animals, cottonwood forests and trains, alike.

The exhibits are quite diverse, from a Japanese Garden, to Spanish Gardens and more, with sculptures throughout. The gardens include both indoor and outdoor sections (temperate zones indoors, desert outdoors) as well as a butterfly pavilion. Kids, ready to deal with a 14-foot dragon, will love the Children's Fantasy Garden and would-be farmers (and their families) will enjoy the RioGrande Heritage Farm a 1930-era New Mexico farm. The farm is re-created with live demonstrations of farmhouse activities, including quilting, pressing cider and more.
