Flying to Northern Montana and Idaho
Montana is not really a major US air destination and most flights are to cities in the southern and central part of the state. The largest airport closest to the attractions in the northwest corner of the state is Missoula International Airport (MSO). Several commuter airlines offer non-stop flights to Denver, Seattle, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City.
Closer to Glacier, Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) offers non-stop service to Minneapolis, Seattle and Salt Lake City as well as local commuter flights. Both MSO and FCA airports have increased service in the summer months, which seems to make sense.
Northern Idaho is best accessed by Spokane International Airport (GEG), less than an hour away from Coeur D'Alene, Idaho and about two hours away from Montana. GEG has non-stop service to Boise, Seattle, Portland, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Denver, the San Francisco Bay area airports and further away to Phoenix, Minneapolis and Chicago.

Taking the Train to Montana
The great state of Montana is fortunate to be included on the Amtrak map. The Empire Builder cuts across the northern portion of the state on its way from Chicago to the Pacific Northwest. West Glacier, Montana is actually only a 15 hour overnight train rider from Seattle and Portland. Coming from the east, expect 22 hours from Minneapolis and 30 from Chicago. There may be delays, so be warned and enjoy the scenery rolling by when you are not sleeping.
