Adventure Travel around Glacier National Park, Montana
What would an adventure vacation in Glacier National Park be, without actually seeing a glacier? It's an eight mile round-trip hike from the area of Many Glacier to Grinnell Glacier, the most accessible glacier in the park. The hike is combined with a boat shuttle or three more miles of hiking.
The glaciers of Glacier National Park are more significant for the mountains, lakes and valleys that they carved than for the few small glaciers that exist today. A true Montana adventure is trekking through the wilderness and staying at backcountry campgrounds. For a special experience, stay at one of the two backcountry chalets – Granite Park Chalet and Sperry Chalet, both accessible by hiking only, a day's walk from Logan Pass. Other popular backcountry options in Glacier are llama trekking and whitewater rafting.

Bicyclists will find the 15-mile long Hiawatha Mountain Bike Trail to be a unique experience. The trail crosses the Bitterroot Mountains on the Idaho-Montana border and traverses many tunnels and high trestles along the way. The trail, formerly one of the most scenic rail lines in the country, crosses into Idaho underground in a tunnel over a mile and a half long.
