Shanty Creek Resort aims to be all-inclusive. A luxury resort in Michigan, Shanty Creek provides a great opportunity to mix business and pleasure. Shanty Creek is composed of three resorts, with facilities to meet anyone's needs, and its trails are divided over two distinct mountains.
Schuss Mountain is composed of 37 trails divided onto two faces. These trails are serviced by 7 lifts. Shanty Creek's remaining ten trails can be found on Summit Mountain, where they are serviced by four lifts. The more difficult slopes are located on Schuss Mountain, in proximity to the Schuss Village. The simpler runs are located on both the Cedar River Village side of Schuss Mountain and on Summit Mountain. If you're looking for a steep ride down, make sure to check out Kingdom Come with a vertical drop equal to the mountain's entire drop of 450 feet.
All the mountains trails are open to snowboarders, but for those looking to get into the job zone, there are three terrain parks to ensure you catch some great air. There are two terrain parks on Schuss Mountain. The first is the Elf Shelf Beginner Park, with small features in close proximity to the ground to ensure safety and the steady progression of beginner riders. At the other extreme is the Purple Daze Terrain Park, the largest of the three parks, with the biggest jumps, and featuring sick boxes, rails, and additional features. Finally, one can find an intermediate terrain park on Summit Mountain called Dish the Dew. The mountain is open Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from 9:00am to 4:30pm, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00am to 9:00pm, and Friday, Saturday, and Holidays from 9:00am to 10:00pm.
There are a wide variety of additional activities spread throughout the three Shanty Creek Villages as well as in the nearby area. Summit Village has a double chair leading up to their tube park. There are also 30km of cross-country skiing terrain spread out through all three of the villages. In addition to these, numerous other activities are available including ice skating, snowshoeing, and taking horse-drawn sleigh rides. There are a variety of winter events held at Shanty Creek, including Mardi Gras Weekend and numerous other events.
The three villages are all fully equipped with stores, dining options, rental facilities, a fitness center, spa, and heated pool. All three provide meeting facilities, making them great for company getaways.
All three villages offer a wide selection of dining options. With choices ranging from local Michigan cuisine to Italian food, bistros, and grills, any taste buds are sure to find something to satisfy them. If they don't suit your needs, however, make sure to check out other nearby towns, such as Mancelona, for a bite to eat.
Shanty Creek Resort offers three different lodging options: Cedar River Village, which is adjacent to the north face of Schuss Mountain, provides a variety of luxury suites, studios and condominiums. Summit Village offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of Lake Bellaire. It provides lodging options such as lake view guest rooms and condominiums. Schuss Village, with its European atmosphere, is located at the foot of Schuss Mountain, and offers deluxe villas and condominiums with a view of the Schuss Mountain golf course.
