Our Ski Specialist Says:

It's hard to believe that Crystal Mountain started off as a community ski area with nothing more than a rope tow and warming hut. Nowadays, Crystal Mountain is a year round destination resort for both skiing and golfing.

Crystal is a family owned resort, and is a favorite amongst Midwest skiers and boarders. This 1,500 acre resort offers up a 375 foot vertical drop, with 45 slopes that are serviced by 10 lifts. The resort prides itself on being a family destination, and particularly seeks to meet the needs of beginning skiers with its Totem Park, built specifically to teach those new on their feet to move from snowplow to the next level. 27 of the 45 trails here are illuminated for night skiing, so pace yourself and don't tire out. The atmosphere is great up here at night.

Snowboarders are welcome everywhere on the mountain. In addition, they'll find a 480 foot halfpipe and Super Park tailored for their enjoyment, The Park is full of rails and boxes, and there's an additional park also available for snowboarders' pleasure. Crystal Mountain is open daily from 9:00am to 9:00pm, but make sure to check the holiday hours as they vary. There are a variety of discounts available on two day passes and for senior citizens and college students. Make sure to ask about such discounts when purchasing your lift tickets.

There are a variety of additional activities to keep the kids, as well as mom and dad, entertained during their time off. Adrenaline pumping activities like cross-country skiing (on over 25 miles of the best of Northern Michigan's trails), telemarking, snowshoeing and ice skating (located in front of the lodge and open from 9:00am to 10:00pm) are sure to get your blood flowing. More relaxing activities are also available, like the nearby ice fishing and romantic horse-drawn Surrey rides, with or without the kids.

There are a variety of dining options both on and off the slopes. These vary from elegant dining to Mexican and Italian style cuisine, bistros, and quick, snack like food. Additional dining options can be found just a short drive from the mountain. Lodging is plentiful with more than 200 luxury suites, hotel rooms, condominiums, and resort homes all within walking distance of the slopes.
