Our Nature Nut Says:

Michigan's largest area of undeveloped wilderness, Porcupine Mountains is a rugged outdoorsman's dream. The park covers 92 miles and is filled with untouched forest and flowing waterfalls, lakes, and rivers. The hemlock that fills the forest here is old growth, and some trees are actually up to 200 years old. The Porcupine Mountains surround, and the rivers and rapids cut through the mountains, flowing towards Lake Superior. The park offers great events too, such as music festivals with folk, jazz, and bluegrass, and tours of the old copper mine. A visit to this park is a true trip to the wilderness!

From Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park - Michigan:

The Porcupine Mountains State Park is Michigan's largest area of undeveloped wilderness. The Park was established in 1945 and later designated as a Wilderness Area. (Map) The Department of Natural Resources developed a park plan which has made this area a model for multiple use management. That is, it is designed to accommodate the backwoods hiker, wilderness camper, RV, camper and day use visitor. It also has a complete winter skiing complex and snowmobile trail system. It is 92 square miles big, with virgin forest, scenic waterfalls, rugged Lake Superior shore line, remote rustic cabins, 87 miles of hiking trails, and virtually no roads.
