Visitors interested in seeing wildflowers in the quiet, controlled atmosphere of botanical gardens should visit the Midland Dow Gardens, the most renowned botanical gardens in northern Michigan. These gardens cover 110 acres and contain over 1,700 varies of plants. Streams, waterfalls, and small bridges are nestled among the colorful flowers and plants. Be sure to visit their crabapple collection and display of plush evergreens.
The Mackinac Island Butterfly House is a tropical garden featuring over 1,000 flowers and more than 500 butterflies species. The greenhouse is open daily from Mid-May through the beginning of October.
