Hot-air balloon-rides are available in the Grand Traverse Bay area. Grand Traverse Balloons can accommodate 2-10 people and offers rides seven days a week.
Skydiving Adventure
For more midair excitement, Skydive Harbor Springs offers skydiving jumps over Beaver Island and the Mackinac Bridge. Tandem jumps are available for first-time skydivers and the company also provides certification for those who are interested.
Winter Adventure
In general, it should be said that the best Michigan adventures take place during the winter months. From snowmobiling to winter camping to dog-sled expeditions, there are certainly many unforgettable experiences awaiting the more daring traveler.
Snowmobile trails can be found throughout northern Michigan, but those in Gogebic County in the western Upper Peninsula are most highly-recommended. The trails open on December 1st and close again after March 31st. Snowmobile rentals can be obtained at a variety of places throughout the county and permits can be purchased at area gas stations, hotels, and restaurants. The Gogebic Trail Range Authority prides itself on impeccable trail “grooming” throughout the season.

Throughout northern Michigan, both in the Upper Peninsula and in the northern Lower Peninsula, there are a plethora of campgrounds and camping outfitter companies. Most are open year-round, to facilitate winter camping as well. Travelers must have proper equipment: hypothermia is a very serious and real danger in these areas.
