Prairie Creek spans 14,000 acres and provides a massive coastal sanctuary for old-growth Coast Redwood trees. Because of the precious environmental status of the coastal redwoods, this park is jointly managed by both the National Park Service as well as California Parks, which work together to protect these majestic trees. Along with three other State Parks, Prairie Creek makes up 45 percent of all of the old-growth redwood forest in the State. Visitors are invited to wander through the prairies and forests of redwood, hemlock, Douglas fir and countless other flora. With 75 miles of hiking trails as well as Nature store and Visitors center, this park is both a tree lover's paradise and a nature lover's dream.
